Presentation Title:
The Art of Seeing Differently – A Creative Reset for the Eyes and Soul
Presentation Description:
A 90-minute interactive workshop with Katherine Dickson
Photography is often taught as a technical skill : aperture, shutter speed, composition rules…
But the real art of photography begins before the camera is even raised.
It begins with how we see.
In this immersive workshop, conceptual photographer Katherine Dickson guides participants through a creative reset designed to reconnect artists with curiosity, observation, and emotional storytelling.
Through guided exercises, visual prompts, and reflective discussion, participants will explore:
- How to move fromlookingto truly seeing
• How perception shapes storytelling in photography
• How small shifts in attention can unlock new creative pathways
• How mindfulness can deepen visual awareness
Participants will leave with a renewed sense of creative vision and a set of exercises they can use anytime their inspiration begins to fade.
This workshop is open to photographers of all levels and to anyone curious about rediscovering the quiet magic of observation.
Katherine Dickson Biography
Short Form:
Katherine Dickson is a multidisciplinary conceptual artist who brings a lived understanding of resilience, nuance, and vulnerability into every piece.
She trained in film and visual storytelling at Quinnipiac University’s and Lights Film School. Later, she founded Guapa Films, a creative studio where award-winning collaborations with writers, directors, and fellow creatives have been nurtured. That background in film deeply informs her work as an artist, photographer and producer; every image begins as a narrative, a mood, or a question.
This perspective has been recognized with First Place accolades at the International Photographic Competition, Fine Arts and IMAGES Awards, plus Honorable Mentions at the IPA Deeper Perspective Awards.
Katherine’s work has been exhibited at spaces such as the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts and various galleries throughout the east coast; where she hopes each photograph invites viewers to look closer, feel deeper, and reconsider what they think they know about themselves and others.
