End of Year Competition

It is that time of year again, the culmination of the past few months of competitions….the End-of-Year Competition when we choose the best submitted photos, including those to be hung on our Wall of Fame.
This past competition year we got back to “normal” operations with a combination of print and digital-submission contests. Because of that, there are two ways of submitting images for the end-of-year competition – digital images and prints.
The important thing to remember, members may submit NO MORE THAN THREE images per competition category. These three may all be digital, all prints, or any combination of the two. BUT, one is only allowed to enter three photographs in B&W, three in Nature, three in People, etc.
Drop boxes to submit prints for the competition will be available March 10. Links to submit digital entries will be available on Shutterscore starting March 10.
The last night where entries are eligible for the End-of-Year Competition is the March 17 Photojournalism night. On that day, or shortly thereafter, any images presented March 17 will be available to be chosen for the End-of-Year Competition.
One other step in the process…. To be eligible for the Ruth Morrison Award in the Nature category, members must email Bill Keaton – georgekeaton56@gmail.com – with the title(s) of “authentic” nature images. Authentic images are those found in the wild….not taken at zoos or other such artificial locations. A list of the special categories for special awards can be found on the Competitions page of the club website.
The deadline for entry in the End-of-Year Competition is March 31.
Mark your calendars for May 19, the Friday when we will meet, announce the winners, and celebrate the success of the past year!!
A spreadsheet of all the entries from this competition season so you can check which images are eligible can be viewed by clicking here
Best of luck to all….looking forward to seeing everyone’s final chosen images!!!

SIG Meeting April 6 - Astrophography

The SIG Meeting (Special Interest Group) with Dave Busch will be Thursday, April 6 and the topic will be "Astrophotography". This will include techniques to photograph the moon and star trails and various apps to make it easier. Everything including equipment and techniques will be discussed and then we will break up into camera specific groups for further discussion.

Current Masking Guidelines

Please note the following changes to the CPS masking guidelines:
  • Whenever Cuyahoga County is designated 'red' the CDC recommends all people wear a mask indoors in public areas
  • We strongly encourage all non-vaccinated members and students to attend meetings and classes virtually for the time being.

  • Welcome to CPS!

The Cleveland Photographic Society is not your typical 'camera club'. Operating from our own full-time, ADA-friendly clubroom in Broadview Heights, Ohio, we are an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, offering a variety of activities for members and visitors alike - including our long-running School of Photography, with classes held throughout the year. Feel free to look around our website and learn a little more about us and how to find us on the All About CPS page. Visitors are always welcome to our Friday evening meetings and many other events - we hope YOU'LL plan to visit sometime soon! If you have a question or a comment, please Drop us a line
