SUMMARY:Unleash Your Creativity: A Process-Driven Approach - Liz Guerton -
Zoom Presentation- Club will be open
DESCRIPTION:Title: Unleash Your Creativity: A Process-Driven Approach \n\n\
nWebsite Address: www.wildliz.com\n\nBio: \nLiz Guertin is a Maryland base
d nature photographer. When she's not in Maryland\, she can be found livin
g out of her car about half the year with her dog\, Buster. She's still fa
irly new at photography beyond the cell phone\, having only shot her first
RAW photo in manual settings sometime in 2021. She still finds herself ex
claiming with surprise and joy anytime a work is selected for a juried sho
w or wins any kind of mention or award. She will exhibit her first solo sh
ow this October at the Patuxent Research Refuge in Laurel\, Maryland. She'
s enjoying this amazing adventure and the places it takes her\, both artis
tically and on four wheels. \n\nTalk Description: \nJoin artist Liz Guerti
n as we explore the practice of process-driven making as a means of creati
ve exploration. As photographers we are often both subject and outcomes dr
iven – think of portrait photographers or astrophotographers or Ansel Ad
ams waiting days for the perfect light to shine down on Yosemite Valley. W
hile these are valid and wonderful forms of expression\, what if we threw
out the rules and focused on specific techniques as a means of exploring\,
playing\, and unexpected outcomes? Think of artists like Jackson Pollock
or Rothko. Throwing paint at a canvas or making squares into infinity. Thi
s type of making allows us to focus on honing our process without ideas of
perfect focus\, sharpness\, or even studied composition (though never ful
ly abandon composition!). Instead\, it allows for experimentation\, play\,
and exciting image-making. We’ll look at both artists and photographers
who apply this approach to their work as well as Liz’s adventure in usi
ng ICM & Multiple Exposures to explore ideas of environmental degradation
in her project Vanishing World. \n\nArt enables us to find ourselves and l
ose ourselves at the same time. --Thomas Merton\nLiz Guertin\nWeb: http://
