DESCRIPTION:\nBio\nThey say that a photographer is either a picture taker o
 r a picture maker\; Polina is firmly in the picture makers' club. While fu
 lly appreciating the "what you see is what you get" approach\, she is much
  more interested in chasing an ever-elusive image that appears in her mind
 's eye\, the kind of an image that conveys her feelings and emotions rathe
 r than remains a mere statement of fact.\n\nPrior to becoming a full-time 
 photographer Polina studied Art History at university\, and then worked in
  several museums\, galleries and picture libraries. Her favourite studio b
 ased photographic subjects are flower portraiture and still life. When it 
 comes to outdoor photography\, she like focusing on flowers using special 
 effect or vintage lenses. In addition to her own hands-on photographic wor
 kshops\, she teaches photography and gives talks to various photo clubs an
 d associations. She also hugely enjoys creating impressionistic landscape 
 images and photographing collectable artisan ball-jointed dolls – relati
 vely unknown but fascinating photography subject.\n\nPolina is an internat
 ional awards winner\, a member of the judging panel for the Royal Horticul
 tural Society’s Photographic Portfolio competition\, as well as member o
 f the Royal Photographic Society’s Distinctions panel in the Visual Art 
 category.\n\n\nTitle: "Starting from a blank canvas – Still Life”\nDes
 cription: This talk is about composition\, light\, textures\, and colours 
 that I use when creating my still life setups. My approach - for better or
  worse - is to start by creating an image in my mind's eye and proceed to 
 taking photographs only after all details have been thought through. There
  will be a few schematic illustrations to show my studio hardware and to d
 emonstrate various stages of putting together a still life setup.\n\n\nWeb
