This will be a Zoom Presentation - Club will be open DESCRIPTION:\nBio\nThey say that a photographer is either a picture taker o r a picture maker\; Polina is firmly in the picture makers' club. While fu lly appreciating the "what you see is what you get" approach\, she is much more interested in chasing an ever-elusive image that appears in her mind 's eye\, the kind of an image that conveys her feelings and emotions rathe r than remains a mere statement of fact.\nPrior to becoming a full-time ph otographer Polina studied Art History at university\, and then worked in s everal museums\, galleries and picture libraries. Her favourite studio bas ed photographic subjects are flower portraiture and still life. When it co mes to outdoor photography\, she like focusing on flowers using special ef fect or vintage lenses. In addition to her own hands-on photographic works hops\, she teaches photography and gives talks to various photo clubs and associations. She also hugely enjoys creating impressionistic landscape im ages and photographing collectable artisan ball-jointed dolls – relative ly unknown but fascinating photography subject.\nPolina is an internationa l awards winner\, a member of the judging panel for the Royal Horticultura l Society’s Photographic Portfolio competition\, as well as member of th e Royal Photographic Society’s Distinctions panel in the Visual Art cate gory.\n \;\nTitle: "Starting from a blank canvas - Flower portraits"\n Description: This talk is about my approach to flower photography which is somewhat similar to portrait photography: for every flower and plant that I photograph\, I always try to find a unique look\, study its mood and ch aracter\, unlock its hidden beauty. In doing so\, I neither aim at creatin g an accurate natural/botanical image\, nor try to picture a flower in its natural habitat.
