SUMMARY:Chris Murray The Subjective Landscape Zoom presentation clubhouse i
 s open
DESCRIPTION:\nChris Murray The Subjective Landscape\n \nIn this presenta
tion I will draw a distinction between two schools of thought in landscap
e photography today\, what I call objective and subjective landscapes.
I will discuss the defining qualities of each and how they differ in bot
h approach and intent. I will also discuss ways that we can express and de
velop our own personal vision in order to make more subjective\, personal
ly expressive images that go beyond mere representation. Finally\, I will
conclude with the rewards that come with making subjective photographs tha
t reflect our vision. \n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nI am a professional photographic
artist\, instructor\, and writer living in the Thousand Islands region of
Upstate NY. I photograph primarily in the landscape of my home\, the woods
\, lakes\, mountains\, and streams of New York State. My work has appeared
in several magazines including On Landscape\, Popular Photography\, Adiro
ndack Life\, Life in the Finger Lakes\, and New York State Conservationist
\, among others. I lead photography workshops independently and through th
e Adirondack Photography Institute.\n\nFor me\, the appeal of photography
lies in the opportunity to create art in an environment that ceaselessly i
nspires and invigorates me. In photography I strive to make images that ar
e a reflection of my sensibilities and how I see the world. My goal is not
to document literal appearances\, but rather make photos that are a creat
ive expression of my emotional response inspired by the subject. My photog
raphy tends toward the quiet and intimate\, scenes within a scene with a c
reative focus on simplicity and detail. With time I have realized that my
most meaningful work comes from places with which I am most familiar and h
ave a deep connection. Ultimately\, I wish for my work to reflect what it
is to me\, a celebration of the creative experience in nature.\n\nPUBLICAT
